Welcome in this oasis of serenity. I love old cemetaries. So that's why i create this blog. Beautiful statues (stone angels), old tombstones and peaceful quietness invite you to reflect on life and death. No, i am not tired of life, i don't wanna die yet, but i love this melancholic feeling i get when wandering about these places. The mystery of life and death. Wander with me.......
I like to keep this blog black and white with some faint colurs now and then, but when it's fall here in Holland and i love to place autumn photographs, this blog shall have more colours than usual. :-)
Your beautiful picture here, Momo reminds me that I have a sister buried somewhere in Heilo, Holland. She died during the Honger winter of 1945 well before I was born. My parents migrated to Australia in the early 1950s and had to leave her behind. I think of her often buried there in the cold earth, but your picture here reminds me that the earth is also warm and its colours magnificent. My little 'big' sister - she was five months old when she died - is now part of that earth.
Heel mooie foto! Ook een prachtig kerkhof, zo te zien. Ik hou er ook van om op oude kerkhoven rond te lopen. Het idee alleen al dat er honderden verhalen van mensenlevens verborgen liggen onder de grafstenen. Boeiende blog.
Yes William, it's indeed a great picture, i don't know who the photographer is. If i know i always give credits for the photographer/artist.
Thank you Elisabeth for sharing these precious memories. Sorry for my late response. And yes your little big sister is now part of the earth and the skies and the raindrops. :-) And she has a warm place/shelter in your heart. :-)
Yes Maggie & Fluitenkruid, the colors are so intense and a great combination with the cold grey of the tombs.
I agree Cynthia, i didn't make the photograph though, i don't know who made this beautiful picture.
Ja Annie, dat vind ik ook zo boeiend, het fantaseren over al die mensenlevens....
Hi there ahinesa and welcome, exactly, i'm not thirsty for death too, but i like the peace and quietness, and i like to think about life and death and all those gone souls, imagine their lives. It bears out my mortality but at the same time (my) life itself. :-)

Fantastic photo, so warm....almost inviting.
Erg mooi deze foto met herfstkleuren.
Utterly gorgeous Momo. The rich Autumn colors
against the cold grey stones.

I am glad to meet a related soul in virtual open spaces. I too like atmosphere of cemeteries, but it does not mean that I thirst for death.
