Welcome in this oasis of serenity. I love old cemetaries. So that's why i create this blog. Beautiful statues (stone angels), old tombstones and peaceful quietness invite you to reflect on life and death. No, i am not tired of life, i don't wanna die yet, but i love this melancholic feeling i get when wandering about these places. The mystery of life and death. Wander with me.......

That time of year

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou seest the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire
Consumed with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceivest, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.

William Shakespeare from The Sonnets.

Dear Renee,

we're fine thank you. I hope you and your family are doing fine also (under the circumstances.) So sweet to think of others while you're grieving. God bless your family and my thoughts are with you all.

Hugs for you. xoxo

Thank you moondaughter, i love this one too. :-)

Hi Stuff, fall is my favourite season.

Hi, This is a wonderful image, looks hyper real, surreal. I studied WS sonnet years ago, but don't recall this one. It's a beaut and compliments your image well. -Jayne

ps- you are welcome to put a grave-angel on your wonderful site, I 'd be honored. Most of them were painted as a body of work. Before digital. So they remain on large trans format... If you look under the art/work link I there is a painting from a child's stone. -J
